Barbie World

Life as a photographer, mother, daughter, grandaughter, favorite aunt and oh... a teacher.

Is there any time left for just... ME? Not on your life!

But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Lawn Work

We've been working on Grandma's yard for the last week or so. It is so blasted hot here that we can only work a couple of hours in the morning before we melt. Anyway, weeding and planting and carrying cement pavers from the store to the car and the car to the backyard and then once again in the right place (only to discover at least half of them had to be moved yet AGAIN) does have its rewards. Yesterday we took time to play in the hose before we wrapped up for the day. Sabrina and Abigail had an absolute blast! I really think it was Abigail's first time playing in the hose. Grandma ran to get the camera because she was having so much fun. Her denim skort was soaked and slowly began to fall down. Just look at the photos ~ it was HILARIOUS! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! BTW - the yard is almost done!
Abigail discovered that by jumping up and down, she could hit herself with the spray of the water.

See those bags of mulch? Those 20 bags also had to be carried from the store to the car, from the car to the back yard, then distributed to their final resting place. We are not yet finished distributing those 20 bags.

The skirt is going...

going...

GONE! She will love these pics one day!

Pool Time!

Here is a snippet of our summer fun poolside! Abigail is quite the swimmer and is learning to go underwater and hold her breath! She is taking swimming lessons for babies starting July 11th. I'll let you know how that goes.

As for now - we are day two into taking away her pacifier, her bottle and nighttime feedings and her lullabye music in an attempts to retrain her sleep pattern to fall asleep - and stay asleep - on her own. I have yet to have a decent night's sleep since I was 7 months pregnant while I'm here at home. Who says working out of town once in awhile isn't a good thing???

Beach Day!

Since it was a whole 80 degrees out yesterday, and we had company from Michigan down (when they left there was 3 feet of snow on the ground...) we decided to go to the beach. When you live in FL, it is hard to get to the beach - I guess we take for granted that it is here all the time, so we never go. But in the summer it really is too hot to go to the beach. However, a day like these past few days is just what drives snowbirds and vacationers to our great state! Thank you for that - as we are still one of the last states without a state income tax assessed!

Melanie, Dan & Miranda Kelley are distant cousins from Mt. Pleasant, MI. They are from my Mom's side of the family. I get to see them about once every 4 or 5 years. This year, they are on our coast for 2 days, then heading to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. Have at it! It is so very busy there this time of year, I wouldn't go to a theme park, no way! But the local beach - now that sounded good!

I was also watching two of Maria's girls, so Sal, Baby Girl, Sabrina, Marissa and the Kelley's hopped into our cars for the short 7 minute drive to the beach. Yes, we live about 7 minutes from the local beach and don't get there very often. Yes, I see the irony...

We had a great time! There were a few locals, but mostly vacationers and snowbirds. How could I tell? The tell-tale sign of nicec cameras drapped around grandma and grandpa's neck. Also - there was a line for the infant swing that backs up to the water - so when you take a picture of the baby swinging, it looks like she is swinging out into the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy the photos, and also enjoy shoveling that snow!
